The role
Waiters and Waitresses deliver food service across restaurants, hotel dining rooms, members' clubs, and event venues. The role demands menu fluency, allergen vigilance, table reading, pace, presentation, and the diplomatic skill to manage a difficult guest without making them feel managed. Good service is one of the more demanding skills in hospitality, and Conifer places workers who deliver it consistently.

A typical shift
Shifts vary by setting — lunch, dinner, double, or events. The shift begins with a briefing on the menu, specials, allergens, and any VIPs. Mise-en-place follows, then service — reading tables, taking orders, running food, clearing, recommending dishes, handling problems quietly. The shift closes with side work, station reset, and a debrief.
Requirements & expectations
- Restaurant or hotel service experience — silver, plated, banqueting, or fine dining as the role requires
- Right to work in the UK
- Allergen awareness training — Natasha’s Law standard
- Menu fluency proportionate to the setting
- Presentable, professional manner — workers arrive uniform-ready
- Confidence with EPOS systems and the basics of service flow
- Composure under pressure and tact with guest recovery
