Public Area Cleaners (often called House Persons in larger hotels) maintain the front-of-house spaces of a hotel or venue throughout the working day. The role covers lobbies, corridors, lifts, public restrooms, restaurant entrances, and event spaces — clearing, cleaning, restocking, and resetting on a continuous cycle. Because the role is visible to guests by definition, presentation and pace are as important as the cleaning itself.
The role suits people who take pride in clean spaces, are comfortable working around guests, and can maintain a steady pace through the shift. It is well-suited to experienced housekeepers stepping into a more visible role, and to those who prefer the rhythm of public areas to the room-by-room work of a Room Attendant.
Eight-hour shifts, typically 7am to 3pm or 3pm to 11pm, sometimes overnight. The shift runs as a continuous circuit: restrooms first thing, lobby and lifts mid-morning, restaurant areas before and after service, and public spaces refreshed before evening. Workers respond to spills and incidents in real time, restock consumables throughout the day, and hand over a fully reset front-of-house at the end of the shift.
