The role
Hotel Security Officers protect property, staff, and guests across hotels and resort properties — covering access control, CCTV monitoring, patrolling, incident response, lost-property handling, and the daily small interventions that keep a hotel running smoothly. The role is licensed under the SIA and demands the rare blend of security training and hospitality manner that good hotels insist on.

A typical shift
Twelve-hour shifts, day or night. The shift includes handover, property patrols, support for reception with check-in security checks where required, CCTV monitoring, response to guest and staff incidents (medical, theft, dispute, intoxication), liaison with the duty manager, and continuous logging. Fire alarm tests, deliveries, and contractor access fill the quieter periods.
Requirements & expectations
- SIA Door Supervisor Licence — mandatory and current
- Right to work in the UK and Enhanced DBS
- Hotel or hospitality security experience preferred
- Smart presentation — typically suit-and-tie
- Conflict management and de-escalation training
- Composed radio manner and clear escalation to the duty manager
- Confidence with hotel access systems and CCTV platforms
