Key Holding Officers respond to out-of-hours alarm activations on behalf of clients who do not want their staff or owners called out overnight. The officer attends the site, conducts a full external and internal sweep, liaises with police where needed, secures the property, and provides the client with a full incident report. Most call-outs are false alarms; some are not.
The role suits independent workers who are composed responding to unknown situations and disciplined with key management and reporting. It is well-suited to Mobile Patrol officers who want a more responsive role, and to those who prefer being the first responder when something goes wrong.
On-call rotations rather than fixed shifts — typically a defined geography with a guaranteed response time (often 20 to 45 minutes from alarm). The officer attends, sweeps the site, secures entry points, liaises with police, completes the incident report, and returns keys to the client per the agreed procedure. Some shifts run zero call-outs; some run several.
